The
lord of the jungle is indeed the elephant and not the tiger as many believe.
Elephants in the wild call for more caution than any other animal.
Elephants
have figured in our mythology and have been a part of Indian life for three
thousand years. Ganesha the elephant headed Hindu god is worshiped as a
harbinger of good luck & prosperity. Elephants are a common sight on our
roads and temples and a source of power still find use in forestry
operations.
Forests of South India are well known for their
elephant populations Nagarhole and Periyar are two noted perks where
elephants roam freely with other animals like tiger, leopard, gaur, monkeys
& deer. The lake at Periyar enables one to explore its forest on motor
boats, which allows close & safe observations of elephant and other
animals. While at Nagarhole Trained elephants and four wheeled drives takes
one to the park.
Day 1 : Delhi - Banglaore - Mysore Morning
fly to Banglore. On arrival drive to Mysore. Afternoon sightseeing tour of
the Mysore city.
Day 2 : Mysore - Nagarhole Sight
seein in Mysore city. Drive to Nagarhole National Park. Evening excursion to
the Nagarhole National Park.
Day 3 : Nagarhole Morning
and evening excursion to Nagarhole National Park.
Day
4 : Nagarhole - Bangalore
Morning Jungle excursion and later drive
to Banglore.
Day 5 : Bangalore - Cochin - Periyar Fly
to Cochin and drive to Periyar National Park.
Day 6 : Periyar
Bat rides and nature walks.
Day 7 : Periyar - Cochin
- DelhiDrive to Cochin and fly to Delhi.
